Javea Properties
Villas, apartments and plots for sale in Javea
Javea consists of three main areas of habitation. The old town sits 50 metres above sea level at the foot of the Montgo mountain which serves to protect the town from the occasional north wind. The town is a labyrinth of narrow streets and white buildings with arched doorways and gothic windows.
The second area is the port of Javea with its modern shops, Paseo Maritimo - promenade - with its diverse bars and restaurants and large marina. The rocky foreshore here gives way to the sandy beach of Arenal, which, together with the hills to the south forms the third area collectively known as Javea.

The major feature of the area is the already mentioned Montgo Mountain, which when viewed from the south looks very much like a giant elephant complete with eye, mouth and curved trunk. Along the brow of the `trunk' may be seen a dozen or so ruined medieval windmills that form a further dominant landmark in the area. The upper reaches of the mountain is a well preserved national park, but the slopes below form one of the most favoured locations for stylish luxury villas. The views down the Jalon valley and across the Mediterranean, some as far as Ibiza, in the Balearics, is one of the main attractions to making a home here.
There is a very large ex-pat population in Javea of which the UK is well represented. Although there are several excellent hotels, including a national Parador, it is not essentially a summer holiday resort. Many people have made an all the year round home here, Javea is also considered to be one of the most up market towns along the coast, hence property values tend to be somewhat higher than elsewhere.
The international airports of Alicante at 90km and Valencia at 105km provide links to major European capitals. The A-7 motorway runs north and south, a few kilometers from the coast. There is a regularbus service to Alicante and Valencia.
